Seedtime & Harvest

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Sow seeds, allow them to root, grow and produce a harvest of blessings. The seed is what's important.

Let The Living Water Of The Spirit Flow Freely Among God’s People.

The Bible’s opening chapter is a great hymn of praise, emphasizing that all things have been created for the glory of God (Revelation 4:11). Nothing can be permitted to distract our attention from the Lord. He alone is worthy of worship. The creation of the ‘lights’ makes no reference to the sun and the moon. These were worshipped by neighbouring peoples. They are not gods. They are simply ‘lights’. Our worship is to be given to God alone. The waters teemed with living creatures. The land produced living creatures. Here, we have a picture of life. There is life where the living water of the Spirit is flowing freely among God’s people (Ezekiel 47:5-9). This water brings life to the land (Ezekiel 47:12). Moving with the flow of God’s Spirit, we are to pray that ‘the water of life’ will flow freely ‘for the healing of the nations’ (Revelation 22:2).

Be Careful In Your Listening To God's Word.

Josiah had been a good king, but ‘he did not listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God’. His mistake was very costly. He ‘fought’. He was ‘shot’ and ‘badly wounded’. He ‘died’ and was ‘buried’ (2 Chronicles 35:22-24). Be careful in your listening to God”s Word. Failure to obey His Word will be costly: ‘How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?’ (Hebrews 2:3). After Josiah’s time, there was terrible spiritual decline. Beginning with Jehoahaz (2 Chronicles 36:1-2; 2 Kings 23:31-32), the kings ‘did what was evil in the sight of the Lord’ (2 Chronicles 36:5, 9, 11-12). Was there any hope for the future? - Yes! ‘The Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia... to build Him a House at Jerusalem’. Like Cyrus, we must say to our neighbours, ‘Let us go to the House of the Lord’ (2 Chronicles 36:22-23; Psalm 122:1). His time of blessing may not be far away!

"Seven Days Without Prayer Makes One Weak!"

God allows His people to suffer difficulties. Why? - To strengthen our faith (Exodus 15:25; 16:4; Deuteronomy 8:2,16; 1 Peter 1:6-7). He chastens us, to teach us repentance (Revelation 3:19). Don't forget God’s love. He is faithful: ‘He didn’t bring us this far to leave us’. He shows us His glory (7). He assures us that He is God (Exodus 16:12). He provides us with ‘daily bread’ (Exodus 16:4). Yesterday’s ‘bread’ is insufficient for today’s challenges (Exodus 16:19-20). ‘Morning by morning’, the ‘bread’ is to be gathered (Exodus 16:21; Lamentations 3:22-23). Jesus is the Living Bread (John 6:32-35,48-51). Feed on Him each day. Don’t invite spiritual starvation by missing days. If you miss some days, don’t let it continue. Remember: ‘Seven days without prayer makes one weak’! ‘How long has it been since you talked with the Lord?’ Too long? It is time to pray and feed on Jesus!

"A happy ending ... "

A happy ending - "salvation ready to be revealed in the las time".
-----

Job 42:1-17

After so much suffering - a happy ending! Job has been brought closer to God (5-6). His "friends" have been forgiven by the Lord (7-9). Everybody is happy about the way things have turned out for Job (10-11). Is there always a happy ending? In this earthly life, we will never reach a stage where there will be no more problems and everything will be just fine. For God's people - "redeemed with the precious blood of Christ" - , there will be a 'happy ending' - but not until "the last time"! For now, we must face many "trials." Beyond our "little while" of suffering there is a 'happy ending' - "salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." We must pray that our "faith, more precious than gold, will be proved genuine and will result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed." (1 Peter 1:3-7,18-19).

We Are Weak. Christ Is Strong.

In Solomon, we see strength and weakness. He was strong - ‘the House of the Lord was completed’ (2 Chronicles 8:16). He was also weak. He was infatuated with foreign women, who did not belong among the redeemed people of God. He married ‘Pharaoh’s daughter’, a woman who had no love for ‘the holy places’ of worship (2 Chronicles 8:11). To the queen of Sheba, a woman who had more love for ‘her own land’ than for life among the people of God, ‘Solomon gave all that she desired’ (9:12). Solomon was a complicated man. He had a real love for the Lord, yet the world still had a strong hold on him. “O let me feel Thee near me: the world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear; My foes are ever near me, around me and within; but, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin’ (Church Hymnary, 434).

Let The 'Giants' Come Tumbling Down.

Victory belongs to God. Victory is given by God. This is the great lesson of David’s victories - ‘the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went’ (1 Chronicles 18:6,13). There are no ‘giants’ able to stand in the presence of God (1 Chronicles 20:8). Every ‘giant’ must be brought to the ground. There are ‘giants’ standing in the way of our spiritual growth. The ‘giants’ of unbelief, disobedience, spiritual pride and self-righteousness must not be allowed to hinder our growth in grace. We must fight our spiritual battles in the strength of the Lord, confident that , through His ‘divine power’, ‘every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God’ will be brought to nothing (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Let the ‘giants’ come tumbling down. ‘Grow in the grace and knowledge our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ’. Give all the ‘glory’ to Him (2 Peter 3:18).

"The Vision Awaits Its Time ... It Will Surely Come."

Sometimes, God’s “No” means “Not now. Later”. David wanted to build a Temple for the Lord. God said, “No” - ‘You shall not build Me a House to dwell in’ (1 Chronicles 17:1-4). This was not God’s last Word on the matter - ‘one of your own sons... shall build a House for Me’ (1 Chronicles 17:11-12). One ministry comes to an end. Another ministry begins. We wonder, ‘Has God said, “No”?’. Has He said, “There will be no blessing”?’. God’s “No” may mean “Not yet”. The blessing will come - but not yet. The “No” was spoken to David, yet still, there was the promise of God: ‘the Lord will build you a House’ (1 Chronicles 17:10). The true servant of the Lord does not say, “The blessing must come in my time”! God’s servant rejoices in the “not yet” blessing of God - ‘still the vision awaits its time... If it seem slow, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay’ 1 Chronicles 16:25-27; Habakkuk 2:3).

And A Mighty Angel

Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Rev 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

"God's Love ... "

God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

-------------------

‘He brought His people out like a flock; He led them like sheep through the desert’ (Psalm 78:52). The Lord brought His people out of Egypt. He brought them safely through the wilderness to ‘His holy land’ (Psalm 78:42-43, 51, 54-55). He did great things for Israel. He does great things for us - ‘He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake’ (Psalm 23:3). Through faith in our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we have ‘peace with God’. Our sins have been forgiven. We now ‘stand’ in His ‘grace’. In our new life with Him, there will be times of ‘suffering’. None of us is exempt from suffering. It comes to all of us - without exception. In your suffering, remember this: We will not be disappointed in ‘our hope of sharing the glory of God’ - ‘God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit...’ (Romans 5:1-5).

The Blessings Of Spiritual Eye's & Ears

Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

"God Calls Us To Pray ... "

God calls us to pray, "Search me, O God ... Cleanse me from every sin ... ."

--------------------

This thought is taken from

Titus 1:1-2:10

How are we to live? We are not to be "empty talkers", people who "profess to know God" and "deny Him by their deeds" (1:10,16). We must give no one the opportunity to "speak evil of God's Word." We must be "a model of good deeds", showing "the beauty of the teachings about God our Saviour in everything we do" (2:5,7,10). When we live in a Christlike way, "those who oppose" Christ and His Gospel will be "put to shame, having nothing evil to say of us" (2:8). This is how we are to live. How do we live? This is a question for all of us. It is a question which will make us feel uncomfortable. We don't find it easy to look closely at the way we live our lives. We won't get away with glossing over things. God calls us to pray, "Search me, O God...Cleanse me from every sin..." (Psalm 139:23-24; Mission Praise, 587).

The Stone That Records Sound

Hab 2:19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

The Power Of Humility, Prayer, His Face, Changing Course

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
